While February may not traditionally be viewed as an ideal month for fly fishing in Tennessee, we believe it has much to offer. As temperatures increased at the beginning of the month, snow turned to rain, leading to improved water conditions. Notably, South Holston Lake has experienced a three-foot increase in volume, which will create ideal conditions to float the next couple weeks. Guides have reported exceptional nymphing success with an attractor fly such as an egg or worm with a small Blue-Winged Olive (BWO) nymph dropper. So, if you're considering a fly fishing trip in February, don't overlook the remarkable potential waiting to be uncovered!

The Watauga River is currently in a bit rougher shape compared to the Soho, particularly from the Doe River downstream due to muddy water. However, there is optimism as we anticipate the next two weeks to bring better conditions for fishing. Unfortunately, temperatures expected to plummet going into the weekend, teens overnight and hovering around the mid-thirties during the day. This cold front won't last long though, the first week of March is starting to look really good! This is the perfect time to be ready for an exciting day on the water! If you're looking to get out there, we have experienced guides available to assist. Don’t hesitate to call 423-946-6665 to book your trip and enjoy some great fishing adventures on the Rivers!
