Now, more than ever, it's crucial to protect your public lands! A segment within the upcoming "Big Beautiful Bill Act" proposes to sell off hundreds of millions of acres of public lands.
Regardless of your political views, this issue is profoundly important to all outdoorsmen and women. When this land is sold, it will be lost to public use forever.

Given the immense scale of our national deficit, the sale of millions of acres of public land would make a negligible impact on the trillions of dollars of debt. There are numerous alternative, more impactful strategies our country can pursue to address this deficit, rather than liquidating our irreplaceable public lands.

We are incredibly fortunate to live in a country that offers millions of acres of public land for outdoor recreation. Neglecting to protect these spaces, rightfully designated for public use, will profoundly impact us for generations to come. Once this land is gone, it's gone for good. We believe a significant portion of these public lands would be sold to private entities on a scale that most of the U.S. population couldn't possibly afford.
So, what can we do to stop this part of the bill from becoming law?
Call or email your state Senators! You can make a huge impact to help protect our public lands! If you're a Tennessee resident you'll want to reach out to Marsha Blackburn, Bill Hagerty, and Diana Harshburger.

Bill Hagerty contact - https://www.hagerty.senate.gov/email-me/
Diana Harshburger contact - https://harshbarger.house.gov/contact
If you live in any other state, finding this information is just as easy. Simply Google your federal congressmen and state representatives. Then, search for "how to contact [their name]." Almost all of them have website portals where you can easily submit your personal information and message.

Here's a breakdown of the current situation:
The House has passed the bill: The House of Representatives narrowly passed H.R. 1 on May 22, 2025.
The Senate is considering its version: The Senate is now working on its own version of the bill, which includes provisions for selling off millions of acres of public lands.
Public lands sell-off removed from House version but proposed again in Senate: While the public lands sell-off provision was removed from the House-passed version due to opposition, the Senate version, particularly the one drafted by the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, proposes the sale of between 2 million and 3 million acres of BLM and U.S. Forest Service lands across 11 Western states.
Senate debate and potential amendments: The Senate's proposals are still subject to debate and potential amendments.
Senate target date: President Trump is reportedly hoping for a Senate vote by July 4, 2025, but this timeline could be delayed.
The time to act is now. Contact your Congressmen and let them know you do not stand for the public land sell-off. Your opinion truly matters, and they will listen. It will take you under ten minutes.
Please, let your fellow outdoorsmen and women know they should contact them as well. We can make a difference as a collective. The time to act is now!
